Resort Course SCUBA diving; by Cozumel Concierge

Diving was revolutionized by the development of a workable demand regulator, co-invented in 1943 by Jacques Cousteau, (who used to frequently visit Cozumel and put it on the map as one of the best diving destinations in the world), and Emil Gagnan. The "sport" of scuba diving did not catch on for another 10 years.
As a result of advancements in equipment, technology, and safety; Cozumel has become a Mecca for those individuals who want to experience this extraordinary underwater universe which inhabits two thirds of the earths surface, with confidence and safety in mind.
Today the greatest use of scuba equipment is for recreational diving. Recreational scuba diving, as taught by national certifying agencies, is defined as diving that:
Uses only compressed air as the breathing mixture.
-
Is never done solo (you are always in the company of a Certified Diving instructor).
-
Does not exceed a depth of 60 feet (in most cases here on Cozumel, your first dive will not exceed 25 feet).
-
Has a depth-time profile not requiring a decompression stop; if necessary one can ascend to the surface without stopping.
-
Does not require specialized training beyond the basic open water course.
Our SCUBA diving resort course will give you an overview of SCUBA diving techniques as well as the basic skills necessary to insure a safe and unforgettable experience in the pristine waters and reefs for which Cozumel has become famous.
The resort course begins by showing you how the equipment works, safety issues and instruction in the basics techniques of SCUBA diving; which include, clearing your mask, equalization, buoyancy issues, and other skills needed to safely enjoy your dive. If you are not familiar with these terms don’t worry, you will be by the time you finish your resort course!
If you have ever wondered what it would be like to SCUBA dive and have never been certified this is definitely the excursion of a lifetime!
